MESLANGES (The name is drawn from Old French) is a Montreal based professional vocal ensemble of variable geometry and exceptionally high quality founded in 2017 by soprano Marie Magistry and bass Martin Auclair, two of Montreal’s most distinguished collaborative vocal artists. Since then, they have created many stimulating projects and work to give them a long life. The ensemble was founded with the mission to explore and present rarely performed vocal ensemble music to a broad audience, one voice per part, under their own artistic direction. It performs works from all periods and in diverse musical styles including the most complex and demanding. The ensemble is comprised of experienced singers, male and female, with perfectly balanced voices. They mainly sing a cappella, one voice to a part, adding other musicians as required by the chosen repertoire. All have a solid professional experience as choristers, chamber musicians, and soloists, and collaborate with internationally prestigious ensembles. Meslanges has appeared as guest at many festivals, including Montreal Baroque Festival, Baroque Festival Lameque, as well as in many Montreal and regional concert series.
